Science
Science 5-8 grade
The middle school science curriculum is a spiral curriculum developed by the national Science Foundation that includes physical, chemical, biological and earth science topics each year. The focus is on hands on activities that help students develop the process skills necessary to conduct scientific investigations. A wide range of technology tools will also be available to teachers and students to supplement textbook-based learning in all grades. Every year, the school will sponsor a school-side science activity that will involve all grade levels.
Science 9-12 grade
The school will offer a full complement of high school level science classes, including biology, chemistry and physics. In all upper-level science courses, students will be engaged in the process skills of observing, communicating, classifying, using numbers, measuring, constructing models, inferring, predicting, interpreting data, identifying and controlling variables, hypnotizing, defining operationally, designing investigations and experimenting. Students will also participate in scientific lab experiences that include the use of technology and incorporate the use of internet in research and preparation.
