The TWIN POETS performing original poetry at "Sankofa Academy"

Albert Mills and Nnamdi Chukwvocha are the Twin Poets — twin brothers from planet poetry.   As members of the ’99 Philadelphia National Poetry Slam Team and the 2000 New Jersey squad, the Twins propelled both teams into the semifinals. They’ve traveled the world spreading their jaw-droppin’ verse in Ghana, London, Jamaica, France, Nigeria, Germany, Ireland and a city near you. As community activists, poets and soldiers in the struggle, Mills and Chukwvocha live to resist. Hey, these wordsmiths are the State of Delaware Mentors of the Year! They have a desire to awaken the revolutionary in everyone. A few years from now, burgeoning poets will lay claim to performing alongside this monumental pair. As always, they come back to The Bride for the people’s poetry festival, Day of the Poet, packing their supa-bad linguistics.

He did not start painting until he was nearly 60 years old, yet his African-American History Paintings will touch generations to come. The Lee Carter Art Museum opens at 925 West Main Street in Coatesville on October 19, 2002.

Sankofa Students attend a performance of " Secret History: The Philadelphia Story" at the People's Light & Theater Company, a world premiere theatrical event written and directed by Ping Chong, and commissioned by the Village of Arts and Humanities. This oral history production, explores the first-hand experiences of urban and suburban teenagers from the Greater Philadelphia Region, with a focus on how violence has shaped their lives.
